Gerald “Jerry” Pozun has been the branch manager for Slovenian Savings & Loan’s West Hills branch for 12 years. He came to Slovenian with considerable career experience from a large commercial bank, as the opportunity to work for a more customer service-oriented bank was too good to pass up.
“I’ve always appreciated Slovenian Savings & Loan’s values – they are genuinely focused on customer service,” Pozun explains. “And it’s great to work in a bank that’s in my community. I live just a half-mile from this branch, and raised my three sons here.”
That’s typical of Slovenian employees, Pozun points out. “It’s important to Slovenian Savings & Loan that our employees live in the communities they serve, so that they have a genuine stake in the area.”
Pozun has been married to his wife, Ruth, for 31 years. His son and daughter-in-law Alexander and Melissa Pozun live in Westmont, where they are raising Pozun’s first grandchild, Hadley. His son Andrew and his wife Nicole live in Morgantown, WV, while son Adam lives in Pittsburgh.
As branch manager, Pozun is responsible for growing the branch, which includes increasing the number of deposit customers and loans, as well as daily operations at the bank.
The branch building itself is striking, with a high, vaulted ceiling, exposed wood and lots of natural light. It’s a not a big building, but provides a beautiful atmosphere for the six branch employees who work there.
“Slovenian Savings & Loan is truly ‘big enough to serve you, small enough to care,’” Pozun concludes. “It’s a privilege to be part of the organization.”
